DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGICAL STUDENT TECHNOLOGIST (REGULAR PART-TIME)

Job Summary :

The Purpose of the position is to provide exceptional work in supporting the Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist in performing specific radiologic examinations. The Diagnostics Radiological Student Technologist will also perform certain routine radiological examinations, as described in the Radiology Departments Policies and Procedures.

Job Duties :

Under the direction and supervision of a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist :

Maintains established department policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, and other such reports. Provides radiologic services to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients using knowledge / skills unique to the requirements of each age group to ensure optimal patient care. Prepares the patient, explains the procedure, and ensures the patients cooperation during the examination. Reviews and evaluates completed test for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered; ensure quality images. Obtains patient history, answer patient's questions, and explain the procedure. Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations. Transports patients to the radiographic room; prepares and maintains rooms. Maintains department facilities, equipment, and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff. Performs duties of a CT Technologist as needed under the direct supervision of a Registered Technologist. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas. Enhances professional growth, and development through participation in education programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Checks equipment, supplies, and accessories regularly. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications :

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); no exceptions. Must be currently enrolled in an accredited radiology program. One (1) year of coursework completed or radiographic positioning coursework completed in an accredited radiology program. Minimum of twenty (20) mandatory competency exams performed; Current enrollment in radiologic technology education program accredited by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

No additional experience required.

COMPUTER SKILLS

An individual should have knowledge of Database software, Inventory software, Order processing systems, Spreadsheet software, Word Processing software

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Basic Life Support (BLS) within ninety (90) days of hire and maintained throughout employment.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals / Entities (LEIE).

Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for childcare.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of radiation. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non-weather); extreme heat (non-weather) and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
