What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Information Systems Laboratory Analyst I, II, or III position at Cherokee Nation?
Provides support and assistance to the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) which is operational in the Cherokee Nation Health Care delivery system, including but not limited to laboratory staff, health IT staff, contractual staff, contractual services, and management. Provides analysis in researching, evaluating, planning, coordinating, implementing, and supporting current and future projects affecting the LIS operational process in the Health Information Systems. Monitors LIS performance and Error Trap or Error Log and coordinates and assist in all debugging and cleanup activities. Researches and corrects all issues related to ordering or data processing or order results, and all data integrity issues. HISLA must be analytical and independent and cooperative and resourceful in order to provide leadership and support through-out the Health Information System.
Job Duties:Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for services in accordance with the self-governance compact and funding agreement between the Cherokee Nation and United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act. Provides direct technical support to all laboratory staff, health personnel and health IT staff. Provides consultation and information technology support of Laboratory Information Systems to all medical staff and creates Ad Hoc reports as requested. Troubleshoots all LIS related hardware, printers, device managers, terminals, and other various lab devices. Recognizes problems as they occur and/or reviews records to identify recurrent or existing issues. Researches questions/problems to determine possible solutions. Determines effective solution of action by reviewing alternatives, considering effect of actions upon the system or departmental processes. Identifies all tasks and responsibilities to be completed to ensure successful project/collaborative task implementations or laboratory systems or processes. Maintains project plan status, schedules collaborative meetings and regularly updates appropriate staff on project status and milestone completions and effectively communicates course of action to all involved. Works with HIT Administrator to ensure system security, data integrity, and confidentiality. Assists in maintaining system devices through repairs, ensuring disaster recovery or business continuity strategies are in place, and relocating equipment. Tests integrity of laboratory information systems after any downtime periods. Assists in testing of interfaces, provides test definition information on all new devices to be connected, and ensures all current interfaces between the Health Information Systems and Laboratory Information Systems are properly functioning. Assists staff in building new lab test, setting up new files and tables, or new or modified queries. Assist with all Lab activities in the Electronic Health Record order entry and results posting GUI process. Maintains all laboratory information systems functions are working properly in reference to billing systems, includes glucose testing and lab orders. Map out workflow processes or identifies new lab information systems processes. Supports the HIT laboratory lab test file and the reference Laboratory Services compendium. Provides technical support for the utilization of the LIONIC code to current and future laboratory test file entries. Supports all data interfaces with the laboratory instruments, device managers, instrument managers, health information systems (HIS) and Reference Laboratory services. Defines and develops standard quality assurance and quality improvement monitoring functions. Assists in preparation of systems specifications including revising manuals, forms and documentation of procedures. Documents interfaces, file, or table formats and system design. Conducts in-service training to helpdesk, hardware technicians, and other technical personnel as related to support of the LIS applications and processes. Works closely with technical personnel to coordinate the implementation and ongoing support of systems. Coordinates sharing of best practices and policies and procedures. Participates in activities which improve departmental and organizational performance. Interfaces directly with a wide variety of end users and technical counterparts in other division and facility roles. Conducts in-service trainings to helpdesk, hardware technicians, and other technical personnel. Adheres to and supports Cherokee Nation standards, policies, and procedures. Maintains and protects confidentiality with regard to all aspects of patient care. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:Health Information Systems Laboratory Analyst I
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Associate's degree from 2-year college or technical school; or two years (60 credit hours) coursework from 4-year college or university; or three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in Medical Technologist or Medical laboratory Scientist.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
At least two years experience in a related field.
Health Information Systems Laboratory Analyst II
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
Health Information Systems Laboratory Analyst III
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university in Medical Technologist or Medical laboratory Scientist; or six years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
At least five (5) years experience in a related field.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should have knowledge of Contact Management systems; Database software; Design software; Development software; Internet software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
