Plans, organizes and directs the activities of the educational program for the school, supervises assigned employees and provides advice and assistance.
Job Duties:Assists Administration by developing proper working relationships with staff, students and the public. Confers with teachers in planning or adjusting class workloads, grouping classes and preparing class schedules. Develops and implements curriculum. Collaborates with faculty in the establishment of overall course objectives, curriculum, selection of textbooks, reference books and materials.Initiates revisions or modifications of the established instructional program as needed. Conducts and attends meetings as required. Visits classrooms to evaluate teaching techniques and observe students' progress. Oversees compliance of rules, regulations and policies by educational staff and students. Oversees the counseling program. Oversees due process of student rights, procedures, discipline code and attendance. Performs supervisory duties for assigned personnel. Maintains activity calendar for academic activities and coordinates with Dorm Administrator for dormitory activities. Supervises Athletic and academic activities. Maintains official school annual records and archives records. Prepares required reports. Administers a comprehensive testing program to evaluate student progress. Conducts teacher evaluation program in full compliance with Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) requirements.
Collaborates with Superintendent in preparation of the budget. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages 3 to 5 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 40 to 45 employees in the assigned area. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Also directly supervises 2 to 3 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Master's degree in Education; no substitutions.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
An additional two (2) years teaching experience is required.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should know Accounting software, Internet software, Payroll systems, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must possess a valid Oklahoma State Department of Education Teaching Certificate as Principal.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
