Job Summary:
Reviews all computer input for tribal notifications for Indian Child Welfare (ICW) and determines eligibility for involvement. Generates output documents ensuring accuracy, completeness, and follow-up needs are met under established standards.
Job Duties:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; resolving problems, in accordance with applicable policies and procedures and with input from Indian Child Welfare management. Uses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulation or standards. Receives and reviews notifications from attorneys, agencies, and court systems concerning tribal membership of children. Reviews documents to ensure completeness and appropriateness. Reads notes and instructions written or source documents and ensures completeness under established policies and procedures. Compares current input with established records to avoid duplication. Separates source documents for distribution. Makes assignments of source documents to the appropriate ICW manager. Generates accurate responses to attorneys, agencies, and court systems concerning tribal eligibility for a child. Maintains system of data entry that will meet appropriate deadlines. Files closed files in designated order. Makes corrections to data when errors are discovered. Tracks files for completion and assignment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Directly supervises 5-10 employees in the ICW. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Associate's degree from 2-year college or technical school; or two years (60 credit hours) coursework from 4-year college or university; or three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
An additional three years experience in a related field.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should have knowledge of Database software and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. May be asked at any time to provide transportation assistance. Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have knowledge of state legal proceedings and experience giving expert testimony on tribal matters. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to interpret and apply policy material, to maintain effective working relationships with others, and to apply critical thinking skills. Ability to courteously interview and probe for information needed, evaluate, and determine appropriate action required, to prioritize and organize needs of clients; to intervene in crisis situations; to work with a multidisciplinary team, and to develop, evaluate an modify an intervention plan on an ongoing basis. Must fully understand and be able to utilize the Registation Data Base.
