What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transport Driver (Temp F/T) position at Cherokee Nation?
- Safely drive patients to and from medical appointments, ensuring timely arrival and departure while adhering to traffic regulations and safety protocols.
- Assist patients with entering and exiting the vehicle, providing support as needed, such as using a wheelchair ramps or assistance devices.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment within the Transport, ensuring that all safety equipment is functional and readily available for use.
- Perform routine inspections of the Transport, checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and ensuring the overall cleanliness and sanitation of the vehicle.
- Maintain effective and professional communication with patients, medical personnel, and dispatch to coordinate pick-up and drop-off schedules and address any concerns or changes in plans.
- Accurately document patient information, mileage, and any incidents or accidents that occur during transportation.
- Comply with all relevant regulations and guidelines, including adhering to confidentiality and privacy protocols.
- Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move more up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
- First Aid/CPR
- PASS Basic Training
- Defensive Driving
- Wheelchair Training (wheelchair drivers only)
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment and annual national, state, or county background checks. No crimes of violence, substance abuse, or sexual abuse in the past 7 years.
- Must be able to pass national pre-employment and annual Sex Offender background checks.
- Motor vehicle record 3-year history must be free from DUI/DWI, suspensions, and must not have more than 2 moving violations or at-fault accidents within the past 2 years.
- This position requires drug and alcohol screening.
