POSITION SUMMARY
The essential function of the Probation Testing Technician is to administer observed drug and alcohol tests for individuals under the supervision of the department. This is customer service position with some fiduciary responsibilities that will require attention to detail, confidence, coordination, courtesy, cooperation, dedication, and communication. This position works directly for the Probation Director.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manages drug testing program and maintains daily spreadsheet of program results; generates reports regarding testing to Probation Officers and supervisors.
- Observes and administers drug tests on male individuals and performs other alcohol tests; records test results and adds financial obligations into the offender management system; distributes results to Probation Officers;
- Responsible for evidence; collects, records and packages positive tests for shipping to outside lab for confirmation and schedules shipping pick-ups; retrieves completed lab results and records information into the offender management system, and distributes results to Probation Officers; maintains drug testing evidence log;
- Assists Account Technician in adding cases to the offender management system in a timely and accurate manner. Ensures paperwork in intake file is complete and accurate. Assigns cases to officers in such a manner that the caseloads remain within departmental guidelines. Scans sentences and any other related orders into the offender management system upon initial case set-up.
- May occasionally perform administrative duties in the absence of the Account Technician. These duties may include; posts payments and balances financials; generates receipts for all payments; prepares and submits deposits; generates reports and notifies the Director in the event of an out of balance situation.
- Answers phone calls, greets visitors, assists with filing, assists with mail pick-up and drop-off mail, maintains drug-testing inventory and submits supply orders. Maintains appearance and cleanliness of drug testing area.
- On occasion may be asked to assist with court services. Protects confidentiality of probation information at all times

Education and Experience
Requires High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
A valid State of Georgia Driver's License and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record. Maintains all necessary requirements set forth by the Misdemeanor Probation Oversight Unit (MPOU).
