We are looking to add an experienced and motivated Assistant Controller t to our growing Carrollton, TX Team. The Assistant Controller will handle high-level accounting, and managerial duties, and oversee the financial activities of Cherry Coatings. The Assistant Controller will assist with various aspects of full-cycle accounting, including reporting and compliance. This role reports directly to the Controller and will assist with the development of internal financial control policies, procedures, and planning as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the month-end and annual close processes including the preparation of journal entries, monthly reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Collaborate with various departments to make informed decisions and compile accurate job/project reports.
- Responsible for job cost analysis and accurate WIP reporting.
- Establish and develop strong internal controls, streamline existing processes, and develop continuous improvement measures.
- Maintain integrity of financial data, and provide technical accounting guidelines and support to staff.
- Complete monthly tax reporting requirements and ensure timely filings.
- Assist with the annual budget process.
- Lead and support the internal and external audit engagements.
- Manage the Account Receivables and Account Payables and assist with resolving account balances and cash flow analysis.
- Ensure operating procedures and policies are established and adhered to.
- Special projects and ad hoc reporting.
Requirements:
- BS in Accounting or Finance, CPA required.
- 8 years of relevant experience.
- Construction experience is a plus.
- Prior experience managing staff.
- Attention to detail, excellent organization skills, and ability to effectively prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to multi-task, critical and analytical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently, and collaboratively across functions and drive company results.
- A strong technical understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is a must.
- Ability to efficiently work in a fast-growing business environment.
- AP/AR/GL/Cost Accounting experience is a plus.
