Position Summary
The Dialysis Nurse Manager provides oversight and direction to all direct care staff that provide dialysis and nursing care in the Dialysis Unit at the Cherry County Hospital and Clinic. The Nurse Manager assumes the responsibility of day-to-day operations of the dialysis unit, coordinating the required resources for optimal patient care delivery. While on site, the Nurse Manager problem solves and expedites communications with other health care providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Coordination of Patient Care
Provides for patient care requirements by coordinating and directing the operations of the patient care in the dialysis unitProvides guidelines for measuring the quality of patient care, based on accepted standards of nursing practiceAssures delivery of patient care consistent with private, state, and federal regulationsEnsures appropriate numbers of component staff are available to meet patient care needsEnsures patient care assignments are based on patient needs and staff competencyAssures nursing staff participates in the development of the individual patient care plan and teaching program for dialysis patientsAssures care / services provided meet cultural and age-related needs of the patient population servedProvides direction in the application of the nursing process, maintaining clinical expertise in the assessment and care of the patient with renal failureServes as a patient advocateCommunicates with other health care team members and departments to meet patient care needsDemonstrates ability to perform all of the staff nurse essential functions when providing direct patient care per unit requirementsMonitors adherence to policies, procedures, rules, and regulations to ensure safety of patients and staffAssures current written policies and procedures are available to assist the nursing staff and encourages participation of the staff in the formulation of policies and procedures when indicatedImplements standards of nursing care, review and revises standards as necessary to ensure optimal patient outcomesFacilitates timely admissions, transfers and dischargesKeeps management informed of patient care and staff issuesDemonstrates continued involvement in professional growth by developing personal education objectives and participating in professional growth opportunities to assure continued adherence to professional standards and provision of quality patient careFollows established hospital and unit policies and proceduresEnsures the confidentiality of patients’ medical, personal, and financial records is maintainedKnowledgeable of and committed to practicing Corporate Compliance policies and proceduresAdministrative / Regulatory Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and / or stand up to ten hours a day and sit up to three hours per day. The employee must regularly work with body bend over waist, reach above shoulder height, and work with arms extended at shoulder level. Occasionally the employee must work in kneeling position and with arms above shoulder height. The employee uses hands / fingers to perform repetitive, fine manipulations, simple grasping, pushing, pulling, and manual dexterity.The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, eye-hand coordination, and the ability to adjust focus.The work environment is an outpatient setting for patients with chronic renal disease. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.Employees are regularly exposed to infectious materials such as blood and body fluids, contagious diseases, hazardous chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, medical gases, and radiation.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Reports to- Chief Executive Officer

Minimum Job Requirements
Must be a full-time, direct (not contract) employee of the facility. Full-time means the nurse manager is available to work in the dialysis facility the number of hours that the facility is open or as facility policy requires for full-time employment (Federal Regulation)Graduate from an accredited school / college of nursing, Bachelor’s degree preferredCurrently licensed as a Registered Nurse (Federal Regulation) in NebraskaMinimum of one year current experience in clinical nursing (Federal Regulation), Medical-Surgical nursing preferredBasic Life Support certification requiredAdvanced Cardiac Life Support preferredLeadership experience and ability
