The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only.
- Study student athletes' skills and abilities to maximize their individual and team performance. Develop and implement ideas to optimize student athlete performance. Devise, direct, and execute play strategies. [Daily, 30%]
- Create and sustain individual and team training plans. [Daily, 20%]
- Document student athlete attendance, behavior, and academic status. [Daily, 10%]
- Monitor for injuries and emergency circumstances. Remove student athletes that are exhibiting signs and symptoms of concussions. Contact the necessary internal and/or external personnel that is needed for the particular situation. [Daily, 10%]
- Adhere to, enforce, and implement district, school, and athletic program policies. [Daily, 10%]
- Establish and maintain direction and expectations for all program participants. [Daily, 5%]
- Train Assistant Coaches to fill in as needed. [Daily, 5%]
- Communicate student athlete status with student athlete and their parent(s)/guardian(s). Provide mentorship for student athletes. [Weekly, 5%]
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with the sport.
- Intermediate knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
- Basic coaching skills.
- Intermediate interpersonal skills.
- Intermediate leadership skills.
- Ability to motivate student athletes.
- Ability to organize and develop a cohesive sports program at a school site.
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.
All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
- Must acquire a Colorado Coaching Credential within 60 days of hire.
- Proof of passing grade on the Colorado High School Coaches Association (CHSAA) test.
- Proof of concussion course completion.
- Hold and maintain a CHSAA coaching registration.
- Coaching experience.
- Teaching experience.
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Colorado Coaching Credential.
- Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Standing, walking, or running for at least 90% of the shift.
