SUMMARY:
Instruct students one-on-one or in small group settings for limited time periods to improve reading and writing skills. Assignments include elementary school, middle school, and high school.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job; not all tasks may be performed by each employee. Duties and assignments may vary based on building assignment and academic year. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only.
- Support application of developed skills across all content areas with a literacy focus in reading and writing. [Daily, 20%]
- Schedule and administer assessments to determine qualifying candidates for academic support. [Daily, 20%]
- Effectively gather, analyze, and use data to progress monitor and/or adjust instruction. [Daily, 20%]
- Make recommendations regarding student evaluations to determine continuation in intervention. [Daily, 15%]
- Collaborate with teachers. [Daily, 10%]
- Keep records on students for purpose of directing further instruction, evaluating and reporting students' progress. [Daily, 10%]
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in language arts or similar field.
- Three (3) years of experience as a literacy expert.
- Knowledge of primary curriculum.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with classroom teachers and parents.
- Ability to work one on one and in small groups with students.
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired.
- Colorado teaching license with an endorsement in English Language Arts endorsement for secondary assignments or an Elementary Education endorsement for elementary assignments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) years of successful teaching experience.
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.
