JOB SUMMARY : Under the direction of a licensed staff member, perform clerical support such as typing, stapling, filing, duplicating, faxing, laminating, collating, counting, inventorying and ordering of supplies, answering telephones, greeting visitors, entering data into computers, and simple bookkeeping. Assist with preparation of student learning materials and support coordinators in the assigned program. May monitor, manage, and assist students during classroom activities and student testing, recess, lunch, detention, in-house suspension, and before or after school.

Job Task Descriptions Frequency Percentage of Time

Perform basic clerical work such as data entry / typing, stapling, filing, duplicating, laminating, mail distribution, taking inventory, ordering office supplies, answering phones, taking messages, and office reception. Schedule meetings as requested.

Daily 50%

Support teachers and instructional para-educators with student testing and preparation of learning materials.

Daily 15%

May monitor, manage, and assist students during classroom activities and student testing, recess, lunch, detention, in-house suspension, and before or after school.

Daily 10%

Provide support to teachers and resource center technicians as needed.

Daily 5%

Draft and distribute reports and / or formal communication to staff and / or parents.

Weekly 5%

Help maintain program files, inventory, calendars, equipment maintenance, and repair schedules. May include budget tracking. [Weekly, 5%]

Weekly 5%

Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS : This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : The minimum prerequisites of formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other criteria that a candidate must fulfill to be considered for a position. It is essential that certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, and trainings are fulfilled, valid, and not expired.

  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required
  • High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma
  • No professional work experience required
  • Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Basic word processing and spreadsheet skills.
  • Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal relations skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills.
  • Ability to work alone and with others.
  • Ability to perform data entry on a daily basis.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  • Ability to work one-on-one and in small groups with students.

  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS : Formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other qualifications relevant to the position that are strongly preferred but not mandatory for a candidate to be considered.

  • Experience working in the public sector
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement
  • Associate's degree.
  • Administrative assistant / clerical, student supervision in an educational setting, or licensed teaching experience.
  • Experience working in a school district or educational setting.
  • Experience working with school age children.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Additional Comments : This part-time position will support the Physical Education and Athletics Departments (20 hours per week).
