Job Title: Nurse Practitioner Detox & Inpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Program

Position Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide comprehensive medical care to patients undergoing detoxification and inpatient substance abuse treatment. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and managing the medical and behavioral health needs of individuals suffering from substance use disorders. The NP will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure a holistic, patient-centered approach to care.
Key Responsibilities:

Patient Assessment and Care:
- Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations, including physical and mental health assessments.
- Diagnose and manage withdrawal symptoms in accordance with established clinical protocols.
- Prescribe and monitor medication-assisted treatments (e.g., buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone) and other necessary medications.
- Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs and treatment goals.

Clinical Oversight:
- Monitor patient progress during detox and inpatient treatment, adjusting care plans as necessary.
- Perform routine and urgent medical procedures within the scope of practice.
- Identify and address co-occurring mental health conditions.

Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, including physicians, counselors, social workers, and nursing staff, to deliver integrated care.
- Participate in case conferences and treatment planning meetings.

Patient Education and Advocacy:
- Educate patients and their families about the detox and recovery process, including health risks and lifestyle changes.
- Promote harm reduction strategies and relapse prevention.

Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing substance abuse treatment programs.

Quality Improvement:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated on best practices in addiction medicine and detoxification treatment.
Qualifications:

Licensure/Certification:
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Kansas
- DEA license with authorization to prescribe controlled substances, including buprenorphine.

Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in addiction medicine, psychiatry, or primary care (preferred).
- Experience in detox or inpatient settings is a strong plus.

- Excellent clinical judgment and ability to handle high-pressure situations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
Work Environment:
- Setting: Detox and inpatient substance abuse treatment facility.
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical assessments for extended periods.
