Job Title: Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor
Location: Wichita, KS
Reports To: Clinical Director or Program Manager
Job Type: Full Time or Part Time
Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor to provide individual and group counseling to clients struggling with substance use disorders. The counselor will support clients in achieving and maintaining recovery through evidence-based practices, strengths-based approaches, and individualized treatment planning.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct initial intake assessments and biopsychosocial evaluations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling using evidence-based practices (e.g., CBT, MI, relapse prevention).
- Facilitate psychoeducational groups on addiction, coping skills, and recovery tools.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure holistic care.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential documentation in compliance with state and program standards.
- Support clients with referrals to medical, mental health, vocational, and community-based services as needed.
- Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and trainings.
Uphold ethical standards, program policies, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Licensed in the State of Kansas to provide substance abuse counseling (LAC, LMAC, LCAC)
- Senate Bill certified preferred.
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with individuals in substance abuse treatment programs, preferably in an inpatient setting.
- Strong understanding of evidence-based treatment modalities, such as CBT, DBT, or trauma-informed care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to a fast-paced clinical setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual capabilities are highly valued.
- Additional licensure (LPC, LMFT, LMSW) or working on additional licensure highly preferred.
