Job Description Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) operates independently in a primary care setting, providing comprehensive health care services across the lifespan for clients in an outpatient environment. This role encompasses health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, and the treatment of common health conditions. The NP contributes to the development of care standards, protocols, and quality monitoring, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective care to all clients. This position plays a key role in advancing nursing practice and supporting the mission of Cherry Street Services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide diagnosis, treatment, prescription, referrals, consultations, and follow-up care for patients in a primary care setting.
- Develop and contribute to standards of care, clinical protocols, quality improvement processes, and administrative functions to ensure safe, high-quality care.
- Participate in and/or initiate research activities related to advanced nursing practice and contribute to the evidence-based development of nursing protocols.
- Maintain effective and appropriate communication with interdisciplinary teams to promote collaboration within Cherry Street Health Services (CSHS) and improve care coordination.
- Represent Cherry Street Services in community programs, projecting a positive image and supporting health education initiatives.
- Participate in the after-hours call system and hospital rounds as agreed upon.
- Provide language translation services as needed (if applicable).
- Adhere to CSHS's compliance policies, including the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Stay informed on pertinent federal, state, and CSHS regulations and ensure compliance with evolving legal and organizational requirements.
- Ensure that staff are trained on and adhere to CSHS compliance standards relevant to their roles.
- Perform related duties and other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education / Licenses / Certificates:
- Current nurse specialty certification from the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
- Certification by a professional nursing organization (e.g., ANA, NAACOC).
- Current license to practice nursing in Michigan.
Experience:
At least two years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting, such as a clinic or outpatient care, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification as required by licensure.
- Strong interpersonal skills and tact in interacting with patients, staff, and colleagues.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends, as necessary.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with multidisciplinary teams.
- Competence in understanding and following complex written and oral instructions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
- Good judgment in evaluating situations and making informed decisions.
- Ability to work autonomously and respond constructively to feedback.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding agency and client information.
- Cultural competence in working with people from diverse backgrounds.

Physical Requirements:
- Exposure to patients/clients with potential illnesses or infections.
- Frequent telephone and computer use, requiring manual dexterity.
- Sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with bending, squatting, and kneeling as needed.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for safety.
