What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager/Electrical Estimator position at Chesapeake Controls?
Position Overview: The Project Manager/Electrical Estimator is responsible for the overall successful completion of multiple electrical projects running simultaneously from project award to closeout.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in electrical management, with a strong ability to read and interpret electrical prints. This position will oversee and coordinate all aspects of electrical projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets for electrical construction projects.
- Monitor project progress, including labor hours, equipment, and materials, to ensure project is on track.
- Interpret electrical blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and team members to ensure project goals are met
- Conduct weekly site visits to inspect work, troubleshoot issues, and verify adherence to project plans.
- Ensure field technicians have materials needed at all times to reduce supply house trips
- Create a project-specific schedule of values that will maintain positive cash flow
Estimating and Budget Management:
- Prepare material and labor cost estimates
- Developing and maintaining relationships with company vendors and contractors
- Manage bids from vendors and contractors
- Create monthly financial projections for each project assigned.
- Work with Sales Team to develop new opportunities.
Risk & Quality Control
- Ensure quality standards and compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, project specifications and best practices.
Team Coordination & Leadership:
- Coordinate with engineers, in-house electricians, and subcontractors to ensure efficient project execution.
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, providing guidance and support to team members.
- Address and resolve any project-related conflicts or issues.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to electrical team members
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including accurate as-built drawings and punch lists.
- Generate regular project status reports and provide insights into project metrics, KPIs, and performance.
- Close out projects, ensuring all deliverables are met and conducting final project evaluations.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years in the electrical, construction or project management field with demonstrated skills and substantial knowledge of the electrical or construction industry.
- 2 – 4 year degree with a focus in project management, construction management, engineering or equivalent experience.
- Master Electrical License preferred.
