Chesapeake Geosystems, based in Baltimore, MD, has been a leading provider of geothermal energy solutions for over 30 years on the East Coast.
We are seeking experienced and reliable Drillers to join our travel team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an in-depth understanding of geothermal or well drilling operations and drilling techniques. Drillers should be able to work collaboratively with others, be able to lead a small team and possess a strong commitment to safety and quality. Experience with mud and air rotary drills is a plus.
Important: This position requires overnight travel Monday through Friday. This is NOT a strictly local position. You will be away from home during the week and return on weekends.
Key tasks:

Responsibilities include:
- Operate air and mud rotary drill rigs to install geothermal boreholes
- Lead and supervise a small drilling crew, ensuring productivity and safety compliance
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on drilling rigs
- Manage drilling fluids and circulation systems, including air compressors and mud pumps
- Maintain accurate drilling records and daily reports
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of drilling experience; experience operating vertical air or mud rotary rigs is a plus.
- Understanding of safety protocols and procedures is a must
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Basic math skills
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Physical Demands:
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, dampness and humidity
- Ability to lift, carry and move up to 80 lbs. of heavy equipment
- Frequent physical activity, including reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling climbing
Compensation and Benefits
The starting pay for this position is $25/ hr and up.
Exact rate is dependent on experience, applicable licenses and certifications.
You will be eligible for per diem and prevailing wage depending on project and site location.
