We are seeking a skilled Emergency Dispatcher to monitor, evaluate, and coordinate real-time traffic communications from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s (PTC) Traffic Operations Center . This role ensures 24 / 7 safety and security for travelers and employees by dispatching emergency resources, monitoring traffic flow, and providing critical updates . Work is performed under supervision, following federal regulations and PTC procedures .
Key Responsibilities
- Emergency & Service Dispatch : Deploy and coordinate police, fire, rescue, medical, safety patrol, tow services, and hazardous material response .
- Traffic & Incident Monitoring : Identify roadway incidents by tracking CCTV feeds, crowdsourced data, and automated alerts .
- Customer Communication : Respond to calls from customers, 911 centers, media, and external agencies regarding highway assistance needs.
- Incident Documentation : Maintain accurate records of all reported incidents and emergency responses in the Traffic Management Tracking System.
- Law Enforcement Support : Conduct license plate and driver’s license inquiries for Pennsylvania State Police.
- Weather & Emergency Alerts : Track weather conditions and roadway impacts , notifying key personnel of potential hazards.
- Security Monitoring : Process facility alarms and security alerts for PTC locations.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year of experience in an emergency dispatch center handling communications, emergency calls, or radio dispatches.
Certification Requirements : - Obtain an Emergency Telecommunication Course (ETC) certification within the probationary period.
Obtain and maintain CLEAN / NCIC certification within 90 days of hire.
Typing proficiency of at least 30 WPM (tested by PTC).
Must pass a criminal background check and obtain security clearance.
