The Fitness Specialist I, under the direction of the Fitness Center Manager, works with members of all ages to assist them in achieving their fitness goals
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Administrative Operations :
Enforce company policies and procedures
Perform daily operations of the facilityProvide reports to supervisorEnsure proper documentation and implementation of all risk management issuesCommunication :Build strong relationships with staff members through communication

Be readily available to answer questions and provide feedbackKnow possible contraindicated exercises for both high and low risk membersOrganization :Coordinate and prioritize responsibilities and projects
Manage workspaceMaintain the cleanliness of all fitness equipmentFollow and record the opening and closing proceduresExercise Orientation and Programming :Identify risk factors for all members
Know screening guidelinesUnderstand the basic principles involved in muscular strength, endurance, flexibility, and cardiovascular developmentCustomize a program to meet a member's needsDemonstrate a safe program on the exercise equipmentProvide specific exercise programming to high risk and special population clients, suggesting alternative exercise optionsFitness Evaluation :Conduct a safe and effective fitness assessment including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility, and body composition
Evaluate and interpret fitness assessment resultsIdentify high risk clients and special populationsGroup Exercise Instruction :Conduct safe and effective group exercise classes
Observe and correct contraindications to exerciseModify class according to different fitness levelsKeep current with new trends and styles for group exercise instructionEducation and Experience
Minimum Required Education : Bachelors Degree in Recreational Therapy or Exercise Science
Experience : One (1) or more years' experience as a Personal Trainer
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Applicant must be NCSA, ACE, and / or AFAA certified
