Job Summary:
Directly lead the production team to accomplish set goals and parameters. Will communicate with the Supervisor and supporting departments to ensure goals are met.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and monitor Operators and Assistants to follow mixing instructions on batch card to produce seasonings and or spices to meet customers specifications and ensure they conform to production standards, and package accordingly.
- Operate a mixer when needed, with or without an assistant.
- Train and support employees in the Production department to follow standard operating procedures and conform to CSC safety and quality requirements.
- Lead and communicate with operators when procedures and/or productivity is not being met or take matters to Supervisor for further corrective action.
- Work directly with supporting departments (QC, Formulation, Maintenance etc.) to coordinate operations to meet production schedule.
- Sets an example for all employees to follow for safety and quality measurements.
- Runs the production and packaging rooms in the absence of Supervisor.
- Acts as the key contact in absence of supervisor and may direct and be responsible for the following positions, including employee relations: Mixing Room Operators/Assistants/Box Makers, Forklift Drivers, Packaging Room Operators.
- Document and report any issues to management.
- Responsible for equipment in assigned mixing room, completes work orders as needed.
- Use batch card to verify correct materials and pallets are in the mixing room before putting into the mixer.
- Verify quality of product with QC Lab before starting run and visually inspect product during process to ensure quality is maintained.
- Responsible for 100% of the room including quality, sanitation, cleanliness, and productivity.
- Responsible for any out of spec batches and rework of batch.
- Responsible for correctly filling out all documentation in assigned mixing room, fill out the batch card during the run, and complete the card at the end of each run.
- Calculate total cartons/bags produced along with total weights and explain any difference between batch weight and total weight.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma/GED required
- 2 years manufacturing experience, in a food industry, required
- 1 year experience informal leading, required
- Prior forklift training required; current certification preferred
- Strong math skills
- Strong oral comprehension and expression skills
- Demonstrated success leading team

- Stand for the duration of the shift
- Walk long distances.
- Ability to climb on and off a forklift frequently
- Push, pull, lift, & carry heavy product such as equipment, bags and drums weighing 50lbs repeatedly, up to 100lbs
- Able to extend arms with hands over the head or at shoulder height
- Hold, grasp or turn with the use of hands
- Touch, pickup, and pinch with the use of fingers
- Kneel, stoop, or bend downwards and forward
- Ascend or descend ladders and platforms
- Stand, work, and walk at heights on platforms at least six feet or higher
- Express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word. Convey detailed instructions to others
- Able to hear, understand and distinguish speech and/or other sounds such as machinery alarms
- Near and far visual acuity required
- Work in an environment that is noisy, dusty and may contain spices with high heat intensity
- Withstand working in cold and hot temperatures for long periods of time
- Must be able to read and write English
- Able to work occasional overtime and weekends as needed
