Hours: Monday to Friday (7:30 AM – 7:00 PM), Saturday (8:00 AM – 1:00 PM), Closed on Sundays

Position Overview: As a Veterinarian at Chesapeake Veterinary Hospital, you will be responsible for providing medical, surgical, and preventive care to a diverse range of patients, including dogs, cats, birds, and exotics. You will work with advanced diagnostic tools, including digital X-rays and in-house laboratory services, and perform a variety of procedures, from routine check-ups to complex surgeries. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide routine wellness exams, vaccinations, and preventive care to small animals, birds, and exotics.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions, both common and complex.
- Perform surgeries, including laser surgery, and dental procedures with a focus on high-quality care.
- Utilize diagnostic tools such as digital X-ray and in-house lab services for accurate diagnoses.
- Provide emergency care and after-hours support for established clients as needed.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners, explaining diagnoses, treatment options, and preventative care plans.
- Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure comprehensive, high-quality care for all patients.
- Maintain accurate medical records and follow proper documentation protocols.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent from an accredited veterinary school.
- Valid Maryland state veterinary license or the ability to obtain one.
- Strong diagnostic, surgical, and clinical skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and effective communicator with both pets and owners.
- Experience in performing routine and advanced surgeries and dental care.
- Ability to manage emergency situations and provide care under pressure.
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with exotic animals and birds is a plus, but not required.
