Your Next Great Adventure
Chesmar Homes is seeking a talented and experienced Director of Design to join our Architectural Design Team, focusing on single-family residential projects in the San Antonio area. This role is crucial in the development of innovative home plans and designs, overseeing projects from initial design through to the completion of construction documents. The Director of Design will be responsible for creating architectural plans, elevations, and details, ensuring all designs comply with local building codes and permitting requirements. The position also involves collaborating with the construction and purchasing teams to modify existing plans as needed, maintaining deadlines to ensure timely completion of design and documentation tasks, and working closely with design associates across the state to ensure design consistency and foster innovation.
Qualifications
Success Is Built On
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in residential architecture / design, particularly in creating original floor plans and elevations.
- Experience with a production home builder preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience working in AutoCAD.
- Strong knowledge of residential plans and construction document completion.
- In-depth understanding of residential framing and building systems.
- Independent, self-motivated, and proactive in problem-solving.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, able to manage multiple projects.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Collaborative team player with flexibility; not an entry-level position.
