Job Summary :
The Licensed Behavior Specialist supports our Middle School and / or Elementary School Emotional Support (ES) program. The Behavior Specialist works collaboratively with educators, school staff, and families to develop and implement individualized behavior intervention plans, provides direct support to students with emotional and behavioral challenges, and fosters a positive learning environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth.
Essential Functions :
- Develops, implements, and monitors individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) to support students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs
- Conducts functional behavior assessments (FBAs) to identify the underlying causes of behaviors and informs intervention strategies
- Provides direct behavioral support to students in classrooms and other school settings, utilizing evidence-based interventions
- Collaborates with teachers, counselors, and support staff to integrate behavioral strategies into students' daily learning routines
- Offers consultation and professional development to school staff regarding behavior management techniques and de-escalation strategies
- Collects and analyzes behavioral data to measure progress and make data-driven adjustments to interventions
- Works closely with parents, guardians, and outside service providers to ensure consistency of behavioral supports across settings
- Participates in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and crisis intervention planning as needed
- Assists in the development of a positive behavioral support framework to foster a safe and supportive school environment
- Stays updated on best practices and advancements in behavioral health and education
- Performs other related duties as assigned
