The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) has an opening for a full-time job coach/job trainer in our Discover Program within our Student Services Division to work within our Transition Work Readiness Program (TWRP). The Discover Program offers a comprehensive work-based learning approach related service that prepares high school students with disabilities to transition from school to adult life.

Location: May vary day to day based on program needs but is based out of our Educational Services Center at 455 Boot Road, Downingtown, PA 19335
Benefits Eligible: Yes (see attached)
Anticipated start date: At conclusion of hiring process (approx. April 2025)
Schedule: Monday – Friday for 180 days per year. Our year runs from late August – early/mid-June following a typical school schedule which would be shared with the final candidate(s) at the time of hire. Summer work may be available for this position if interested. It is not required.
Work Hours: 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week. Typically either 7:30-3:30 or 8-4 depending on program needs.
Exempt Status: Non-exempt position
Salaried or Hourly: Hourly for 24-25 school year; option to move to salaired for 25-26 school year
Qualifications
Provide support to students in the community newly referred by local school districts to the Discover Program. Students learn job and life skills at vocational sites throughout the county in group and individual settings.

- Teach students soft skills/employment readiness skills in a community-based location given real life, hands-on experiences
- Identify the student’s interests and strengths
- Assist students in gaining confidence in their abilities
- Develop work behaviors, problem solving skills, social skills, teamwork and independence
- Collect data/information on 25 attributes that is shared with student and IEP team for skill development and goal planning
- Job Coaches may either meet students at the workplace or be required to drive students in CCIU vans.*

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum 3 years job coach/trainer experience required
- Experience with secondary students required
- Experience with autism/special needs population required
- Experience with data collection for special education preferred
- Willingness to work in several areas of Chester County
- Current MVR check required required upon hire (conducted by CCIU)
- Must have a valid PA Driver's License with no moving violations for previous three (3) years
- Must meet CCIU procedures for transporting students (including motor vehicle record check; please see attached document for more information)
- Current police, child abuse & FBI Fingerprint clearances required
- Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and the federal government (conducted by the CCIU upon hire)
