Cafeteria Monitor
Purpose Statement
The job of Cafeteria Monitor is done for the purpose/s of performing non-classroom supervision duties, in the cafeteria.
This job reports to School Principal.
Part-Time 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Essential Functions
- Follow outlined behavior support plan and reports recurring behavioral problems and/or safety hazards to teachers or other designated school staff for maintaining a safe school environment.
Monitor students during meal periods for maintaining acceptable behavioral standards at meals.
Promote standards of courtesy and behavior expected of students (e.g. at mealtimes for maintaining a school environment c onducive to social and academic learning.
Provide supervision and direction to students during meals for ensuring a safe mealtime.
Respond to emergency situations (e.g. injured students, student disputes, etc.) for resolving immediate safety concerns and directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
Respond to inquiries from a variety of sources for resolving issues, providing information and/or direction to other sources.
Direct movement of students entering and exiting the cafeteria.
Monitor execution of student duties – table washing and picking up trash.
Create seating chart of students for daily attendance and emergencies.
Other Functions
- Performs other related duties as assigned for ensuring the efficient and effective
functioning of the work unit.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with others; work
with specific, job-related data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include communicating with persons of diverse backgrounds; adapting to changing work priorities; and, maintaining confidentiality.

Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 0% sitting, 10% walking, and 90% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.
