What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Business Manager position at Chester Upland School District?
- Direct the daily processing of purchasing, accounts receivable, payroll, and accounts payable activity in accordance with Board policies, public school code rules and regulations and applicable laws.
- Collaborate with the business manager to maintain proper internal controls, meet financial reporting timelines, and ensure audit compliance so the district can maintain its operations and remain within fiscal year budgets.
- Assists in the preparation of the district’s annual budget and long-term fiscal planning
- Advise the business manager on issues, trends, and changes in the financial operating performance of CUSD
- Prepares monthly board reports, operating statements, fiscal quarterly reports, and other information or documents as requested.
- Support CUSD departments in program development by providing financial analysis for new program initiatives
- Assist in monitoring and conducting internal audits of district offered fringe benefits
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new vendors
- Collaborate with the Office of the Superintendent regarding fiscal board policy updates and creations
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating all support staff within the business office
- Cooperate with auditors and provide information as requested
- Represent the school district as necessary in off-site meetings, associations, etc.
- Attend all regular monthly school board meetings
- Prepare and submit monthly board reports
- Participate in relevant board committees

- Responsibility of Office-Level Budget including programs or initiatives
- Frequently interfaces with Board, Vendors, State Liaisons and Stakeholders
- Proficient in the use of computer technology for accounting and other budget administration tasks
- Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and technology skills.
- Resourceful and self-motivated
- Ability to work in a team environment and work under stress. Ability to work effectively with people and be able to supervise others.
- Ability to do job responsibilities with minimal supervision and ability to schedule time to meet deadlines.
- Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.

Position Purpose
Under the general Supervision of the Business Manager, to assist with managing the Business Services functions of the district including budget and finance, receivables and payables and related fiscal areas.
