General Description
Assists school administration in supervision and monitoring of student behavior and related activities. Works with school staff and parents to prevent and resolve student behavior and attendance issues. Assists principal with school-based leadership, instruction, curriculum, and development of effective teaching and learning strategies.

Organizes data and prepares requested reports that reflect discipline and attendance status.
Equipment Operation:
Proficient in the use of personal computer and other office equipment to support the individual’s job functions.
Contacts:
School faculty and staff; daily; resolve and investigate issues, obtain and provide information.
Central office personnel, outside agencies, monthly, to develop and implement discipline and attendance programs.
Work Direction:
Provides work direction to In-school Tutor Monitor, Security Monitor, and appropriate clerical and support staff.
Supervision:
Responsible for supervision of students during school and after school hours. Assists the principal in supervision of other school personnel as appropriate.
Decision Making:
High level of independent decision making under the supervision of the principal.

This is a moderately physically active position which includes extended periods of walking and standing. Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of effective teaching strategies including best practices in classroom management and of effective discipline practices and procedures. Working knowledge of school law, policies, and regulations. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing. Demonstrated abilities in decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships, program management and research and planning. Demonstrated ability to analyze data to make program decisions and improvements.
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience. Bachelor’s degree and current Virginia teaching license required. Working towards a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from an accredited college or university.

- Assists in the implementation of the school discipline plan to provide a safe and secure environment.
- Confers with teachers and parents to resolve student behaviors and attendance issues that disrupt the learning process.
- Provides supervision of students after school hours.
- Provides leadership in the development and implementation of an effective plan to reduce the amount of discipline referrals.
- Assists the building principal in other areas as deemed necessary.
