What are the responsibilities and job description for the Specialist - Grants position at Chesterfield County Public Schools?
Collaborates with administrators, instructional specialists, business partners, the Chesterfield Business Council, school faculty, and division leadership to identify relevant grants or other funding sources, along with their requirements. Additionally, develops strategies for cultivating these relationships, as well as creating grant proposals and budgets tailored to meet their needs.
Provides technical assistance to division personnel in preparing grant proposals and submissions.
Consults with the Office of Compensation and Budget Department to determine personnel costs for grants.
Coordinates with Grants Administrator and the Budget Department to determine other costs for proposals and to assist in post-award activities and cost-sharing.
Obtains necessary approval both before and during the grant writing process. Ensures critical deadlines for grant submissions are met. Coordinates site visits and interviews with prospective grant sponsors.
Performs independent research to identify prospective grants. Prepares reports, maintains files of submitted grants and provides periodic status reports.
Assists the Grant Administrator with monitoring grant expenditures, as necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Daily contacts at all levels within the organization. Frequent external contacts, to include the Chesterfield County Grants Coordinator, Chesterfield County Government agencies, Chesterfield Public Education Foundation, and other stakeholders.

Working knowledge of grants writing; of state and federal regulations and guidelines concerning grant submission, administration, and project management. Skill in the use of a personal computer, utilizing spreadsheet and word-processing software, as well as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. Demonstrated ability to write grant proposals and to secure grant awards; to organize work and meet strict deadlines; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to interpret and apply Federal guidelines and regulations.Education, training, or experience sufficient to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
