General Description
Provides instructional leadership and oversees the operation of the MADE Specialty Center. Responsible for the organization and structure of the program. Supports a staff of professional and instructional personnel under the direction of the principal. Requires assigned classroom instruction.
Essential Job Functions
Essential Job Functions :
- Under the direction of the principal, provides program direction and supervision to MADE Specialty Center. Provides leadership in promoting choices for students in pursuing courses of study appropriate to their special talents and interests related to entrepreneurship.
- Coordinates with the principal and the Human Resource Department staffing needs; recommends staffing changes; participates in the recruitment, selection and assignment of the center's staff.
- Coordinates with the designated MADE School Counselor to direct and support center students in the scheduling process
- Provides leadership and direction to the MADE teachers and support staff; reviews and analyzes data to lead the center's efforts in achieving high academic performance of all students.
- Coordinates curriculum development with Instructional Services, the school administration and community organizations. Communicates division-wide policy, procedures and guidelines to the school staff. Interprets school board policy, procedures and guidelines to parents and public. Ensures compliance with existing applicable federal and state statute, policy and guidelines related to public schools and institutional policies of related organizations.
- Serves as a member of the school leadership team and represents the center at meetings, conferences, hearings and other public forums; gathers citizen and parental input. Works with committees of teachers, business alliances and organizations in specific programs. Facilitates students competition within DECA and is able to travel to DECA competitions.
- Under the direction of the school principal and in partnership with the curriculum specialists, the coordinator will be responsible for curriculum design, course selection, staff selection, curriculum writing and material / textbook selection and ordering.
- Communicates educational opportunities of the MADE Specialty Center including conducting orientations, open houses and countywide curriculum fairs. Prepares and edits brochures and other publications. Works with Community Relations, the principal and the Director of High Schools on public relations as it applies to the center.
- Under the direction of the principal, coordinates student selection and notification.
- Will be assigned classroom instruction : Plans and delivers appropriate curriculum using district curriculum. Assesses student's learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group and individual needs. Maintains order within the classroom in accordance with division guidelines regarding student behavior management. Supervises students during non-classroom times (lunch, fire drills, etc.).
- Consistently evaluates Program effectiveness. Assess / Monitor student learning. Work with Curriculum Specialists to identify student achievement measures, professional development and community outreach.
- Attend extra-curricular / co-curricular Specialty Center / School events.
- Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence.
- Assesses student learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group / individual needs.
- Uses the curriculum of the district to plan daily instructional activities.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Budgetary Responsibility :
Responsible for budget preparation; monitors specialty center budget and record of expenditures; approves spending. Identifies funding sources to address specialty center needs. Ensures compliance with fiscal guidelines.
Report Preparation :
Prepares regular reports related to the instructional program, operations of the center and progress of students.
Equipment Operation :
Computer, audio-visual equipment and appropriate software applications.
Contacts :
A wide variety of personnel within the school system and business community. Serves as a school system representative to the community.
Work Direction / Supervision :
Under supervision of the principal, provides direction and guidance to professional and support staff of the center. Assists the principal in the selection, supervision, and development of the center's faculty and support staff.
Decision Making :
High degree of independent decision-making.
Formal Policy-Setting Responsibilities :
Makes recommendations and assists in developing and revising existing or implementation of new policies.

Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of instructional and internship program planning, total high school operation and group dynamics. Considerable knowledge of : federal and state regulations relative to areas of responsibility and the ability to interpret and apply the regulations; the concepts, principles and methodologies of instruction; of academic curriculum for assigned classes. Demonstrated ability to develop instructional goals to design and deliver instruction and to assess students' learning and in decision-making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships, long range planning and forecasting and the ability to communicate effectively.
Requirements
Must hold a valid Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional teaching license with an endorsement in a secondary content area and 3-5 years successful teaching experience. An endorsement in Administration and Supervision endorsement is preferred.
