Who We Are:
Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. The Day Program is seeking qualified professionals who desire to join an established program and advance their career in the human services field. We provide day-time services at a community day program center to include skills training, supervision, and leisure/recreational activities to individuals with developmental disabilities. This is a 35-hour/week position that offers full-time health and dental benefits!
Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED; some college coursework preferred; experience in giving direct behavioral and hygiene care to individuals with intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities or related experience in a human services field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience writing or summarizing daily documentation of individuals receiving services preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic proper methods and techniques used in the personal care, development and rehabilitation of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Ability to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Ability to assist individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. Certifications in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Medication Administration preferred.
Additional Requirements:
Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the preceding twenty-four months, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.Duties
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Completes daily documentation on services and supports provided to individuals;
- Participates in the development and implementation of individual support plans as a member of the day program and monitors/evaluates individual’s progress;
- Provides personal care, facilitates various classes, and assists persons while in the community for trips, activities, and or instructional classes;
- Compiles data as required to document the delivery of services; and
- Performs other work as required.
Shift
35 hours/week; Monday - Friday; 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
