High school diploma or GED; two years of experience in the repair and maintenance of small engines; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of small engine repair; working knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, electronics, and welding. Must be highly motivated, goal driven and self-starter. Experience adhering to safety and environmental standards; strong interpersonal and communication skills, and able to work well with others. Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.

- Responsible for the maintenance and repairs of sports turf and grounds related equipment to include reel and bed-knife grinding, adjustments, and fabrication, as needed.
- Ensures that mechanical repairs are performed on a variety of gasoline and diesel power equipment in a timely and precise manner. Ensures that all equipment is always kept in operable conditions.
- Maintains a preventative maintenance program on all equipment, purchases repair parts and replacement supplies. Places orders for parts/supplies as needed for equipment or service and tracks expenses and inventories for budget purposes.
- Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in all types of sports turf and park maintenance equipment.
- Performs mower grinding/sharpening, general overhaul of motors and reels, installs and adjusts braking systems.
- Ensures accurate records of preventative maintenance, repairs made, parts purchasing and inventory management.
- Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Assists in developing ongoing training programs.
- Responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of all shop facilities and features.
- Makes adjustments to mowing equipment at times daily to meet expectations. Quality of cut is one of the most important aspects of the position.
- Keeps up with latest technology and modern practices as it relates to equipment.
- Perform other work as required.
