Equipment Mechanic - Sports Turf & Grounds

• Responsible for the maintenance and repairs of sports turf and grounds related equipment to include reel and bed-knife grinding, adjustments, and fabrication, as needed. 

• Ensures that mechanical repairs are performed on a variety of gasoline and diesel power equipment in a timely and precise manner. Ensures that all equipment is always kept in operable conditions.
• Maintains a preventative maintenance program on all equipment, purchases repair parts and replacement supplies. Places orders for parts/supplies as needed for equipment or service and tracks expenses and inventories for budget purposes.
• Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in all types of sports turf and park maintenance equipment.
• Performs mower grinding/sharpening, general overhaul of motors and reels, installs and adjusts braking systems.
• Ensures accurate records of preventative maintenance, repairs made, parts purchasing and inventory management. 
• Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Assists in developing ongoing training programs.
• Responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of all shop facilities and features.

• Makes adjustments to mowing equipment at times daily to meet expectations. Quality of cut is one of the most important aspects of the position.
• Keeps up with latest technology and modern practices as it relates to equipment.
• Perform other work as required.
