Who We Are:
Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care and services to our consumers in our residential homes. Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED; graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of the principles and practices of practical nursing; of medical terminology. Ability to apply simple nursing techniques; to record accurate information on patients' charts; to follow verbal and written directions; to follow established policies and procedures; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to interact with a variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds and of varying ages; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Ability to anticipate patient's needs preferred.
Additional Requirements
• Possess licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.
This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Takes, monitors, and records vital signs;
• Observes, records, and reports symptoms, reactions, and changes in patients' condition;
• Prepares and administers prescribed medications, treatments, and therapies;
• Educates staff, families, and patients on routine care and prevention procedures;
• Inventories, orders, and stocks medications and medical supplies;
• Maintains medical charts and records;
• Transports individuals to medical appointments;
• Schedules patient appointments; and
• Performs other work as required.

Salary : $55,278 - $74,625
