Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; three years of college coursework and/or experience working in a recreation/park operations setting or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Good knowledge of recreational/park operation principles and practices; communication skills and ability to work effectively with part-time staff, volunteers, office staff and the public.Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited.
Duties
This job advertisement is for openings in the following districts: Dodd Park, Daniel Park and Central (County courthouse area). Each district maintains parks, complexes and the grounds of schools, libraries, and other county sites within their district. The Sports Facility Operations Worker position performs a variety of tasks to assist sports facility and parks operations. Monitors recreation and athletic activities, facilities, public parks, and special events; monitors and coordinates operations. Duties include trash removal, restroom maintenance, minor repairs to facilities, other required maintenance and ensures parks are vacated at the appropriate time. Perform other work as required.
Shift
Schedule varies depending on sport/season. Approximately 20 - 28 hours/week; March - November; Saturday & Sunday 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.; weekdays 5:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. December - February; weekdays 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
