What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Bus Transporter position at Chesterfield County?
High school diploma or GED and two years of experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be at least 18 years old. Some knowledge of school buses or heavy vehicles desired but not required. Ability to communicate with drivers, dispatchers, and technicians. Must possess or obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with air brakes, and endorsements for P and S within 6 months of hire. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.

Works under the direct supervision of the Automotive Maintenance Supervisor. Responsibilities include transporting buses to and from vendors for warranty work or repairs and breakdown sites as needed. Does not include transporting students or staff. Perform other work as required.
