What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Technician (part-time) position at Chesterfield County?
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION LOCATED IN A SECURED JAIL FACILITY.
High school diploma or GED; one year of experience in security, law enforcement, military environment or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have working knowledge of general safety and security procedures and techniques. Must have ability to read and communicate effectively. Must have the ability to be able to sit, walk, or stand for long periods of time processing visitors and viewing cameras. Must be able to differentiate shapes and colors. Must have some knowledge of general office procedures. Must be able to pass a polygraph examination. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justices "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check. Must be a US citizen or have been a lawful resident of the US for the past ten consecutive years.This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited.
Process, assist, and ensure a safe and secure environment for all individuals entering the Chesterfield County Jail Lobby. Process civilians, county employees, attorneys, and law enforcement personnel efficiently while maintaining high standards of customer service and security protocols. Monitor all security/radio traffic and visitation activity. Responsible for the daily opening and closing of the public entrance. Receive and process incoming packages, ensuring they are delivered to the designated area in a timely manner. All other duties assigned by supervisor. Perform other work as required.
