About Us
The Department of Constituent and Media Services operates as a comprehensive support agency providing communications and planning assistance to county elected leaders, county administration and more than 40 county departments. The department has two divisions, including the Constituent Services Division and the Communications and Media Division. Using a comprehensive set of communications tools and platforms, combined with a diverse mix of staff talent, we support county leaders’ public engagement efforts and work with county departments and other partners to tell Chesterfield’s story through a variety of formats including social media, podcasts, blog posts, direct marketing, a weekly e-newsletter, media relations and web content.
Job Position Overview
This position plays a critical role within the department and organization, leveraging best practices to engage with the public on matters before the Board of Supervisors while serving as a liaison to community members and county departments on behalf of the Board of Supervisors.
An ability to pivot easily among tasks and shift focus from one goal to another quickly and decisively is essential. The successful candidate will connect with subject-matter experts among departments and at all levels of an organization that provides local government services and programs to nearly 380,000 county residents and works closely with many community partners.
The position works closely with other staff to provide research and communication support to the county’s Board of Supervisors, works on special projects, and maintains a high level of work flexibility to handle competing priorities that often require immediate attention. Though the county’s normal workday is 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., constituent services work isn’t limited to this daytime schedule, and this position often works evenings and occasional weekends to assist with community meetings and other special events. This role will serve as a backup to the Clerk to the Board of Supervisors and will be required to attend monthly Board of Supervisors meetings.

The Senior Administrative Analyst will possess considerable knowledge of research techniques, methods, and procedures to develop informed and thorough responses to identified topics and issues. More specifically, they will be able to take complex topics and develop communications that are clear and easy to understand among a variety of audiences. Professional writing skills are a must, and the successful candidate must also demonstrate a high degree of independent judgement, skill, confidentiality, and political sensitivity. They will work directly with elected Board of Supervisors members and other county leaders and staff to coordinate and develop strategic messaging; draft speeches and/or talking points; prepare presentations, video scripts and correspondence; plan special events; and produce key content pieces used during monthly Board of Supervisors meetings.
The Senior Administrative Analyst will report directly to the Constituent Services Administrator and will also work closely with the Director of Constituent and Media Services and other departmental staff. The ability to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with leaders and staff among many other county departments, partner agencies or organizations, and constituent groups is required. The successful candidate will also work closely with members of the department’s Communications and Media Division to deliver Board-related content that supports the county’s public information efforts. Perform other work as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:

-Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft and Adobe suite
-The ability to clearly communicate through writing and work creatively on internal and external facing publications
-Ability to occasionally work outside of regular hours (8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.)

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in communication, public administration, political science, or a related field; at least three years of experience in constituent or community affairs or in providing professional staff support to a government organization or elected official; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.

Salary : $64,449 - $75,728
