Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. The Child & Adolescent Services Team (CAST) is seeking a full-time licensed child and family therapist to join our outpatient (mental health) team. Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's degree in Human Services; three years of experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. At least three years of relevant professional therapy experience in a mental health treatment setting with youth and families preferred; verbal and written fluency in both Spanish and English preferred; experience with systems with care approach for youth, evidence-based practices, Trauma-Informed Care, Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment (CBT) are strongly preferred; specialized training or experience with specific populations or treatment interventions such as art therapy and play therapy are strongly preferred. Experience with electronic health records preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of normal and abnormal human behavior, personality development, family and group dynamics; considerable knowledge of and an ability to apply a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques/modalities; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and/or psychological and educational testing; some knowledge of consultation program; considerable knowledge of psychosocial history development; very good interviewing and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; demonstrated ability to assess and understand the impact of complex trauma is preferred; proficiency in clinical documentation preferred.
Additional Requirements:
• Professional licensure in Virginia such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
• Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Conducts intake interviews by telephone or in person.
• Provides crisis counseling/intervention services.
• Conducts assessment of client through psychological evaluation, social history, and/or interview.
• May administer and score intelligence, personality, and psychological instruments; prepares reports.
• May visit clients at home to conduct assessment, provide treatment and, if appropriate, motivate them to come into agency for service.
• Refers clients to appropriate community resources when called for in treatment plan.
• Maintains administrative and clinical recording of work as required.
• Conducts collateral contacts with family of clients or other community caregivers involved with client.
• Maintains documentation in an electronic health record (EHR); and;
• Performs other work as required.
Monday - Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; includes some evening hours (4 hours required after 5:00 p.m.).Salary : $71,395 - $83,888
