PUBLIC SERVICES UTILITY WORKER - Seasonal (Posted 04/04/25)

Job Summary & Key Responsibilities:

Chesterfield Township is seeking efficient & enthusiastic candidates for the summer, to complete a variety of general labor tasks. Under direct supervision, this seasonal position will perform a variety of manual tasks, including, but not limited to, weed whipping, fire hydrant painting, grass cutting, cleaning, and maintaining Township fleet vehicles, performs other duties as directed.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Must have a valid Michigan Drivers' License, good driving record, and dependable transportation or have transportation available to and from work site.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, use electronic devices to capture data, photos, and time spent on tasks.
• Ability to adhere to established department and Township procedures and guidelines.
• Ability to respond appropriately to verbal and written communication.
• Basic computer knowledge.

Physical Abilities & Work Environment:

• Ability to frequently transport and/or move up to thirty-five (35) pounds; occasionally up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
• Ability to perceive depth, color, and details of measurement.
• Frequently uses various equipment to shovel, rake, sweep, mop, cut, mow, trim, paint, etc.
• Frequent movement and use of limbs.
• Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
• Frequently operates motorized vehicle and power equipment.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information, including status of work progress.
• Performs work in various field conditions including, but not limited to: unpaved sites, slippery sites, uneven terrain, mud, as well as regular exposure to outside weather conditions (e.g. heat, cold, wind, rain, humidity).
