Horticulturalist - Tree & Shrub Care Specialist
We would love for you to join our team and grow with our expanding company. We are looking for a horticulturalist with a great work ethic and the ability to maintain a high level of quality with our plant material and displays at the nursery.
We are a full service landscape company & garden center located in Chesterfield, MO, that has an emphasis on specimen plant material. From ornamental evergreens to large Japanese maples, Chesterfield Valley Nursery strives to bring in unique, high quality trees and shrubs!

THIS POSITION WOULD START UNTIL MID-FEBRUARY TO EARLY MARCH, WEATHER PENDING .

Full Time & Part Time Available
- Green industry experience required (horticulture, agriculture, plant sciences, greenhouse work, etc.)
- Experience with woody trees & shrubs and ornamental outdoor plant material required
Key Responsibilities
- Daily watering and plant care (pruning, weeding, etc.)
- Identifying and assisting in treating plant problems with insects, disease, fungus, etc.
- Working with and directing other team members in watering tasks and other plant care needed throughout multiple sections of the nursery
- Hold team members accountable to core processes, procedures, and core values.
- Maintain and exercise proper chemical and fertilizer safety protocols
- Restocking merchandise and remerchandising assigned section(s) throughout the season
- Work with managers to maintain overall plant care, nursery and display appearance
- Excellent communication with management and team members
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Auxiliary Responsibilities
- Supports and communicates with department managers, general manager, and Nursery team
- Close and open based on the needs of the department and communication with leadership
- Applying price tags & notating shortages and outages
- Assisting with customers as needed when all sales staff are already engaged, participating in a strong culture of guest experience, ensuring guests are greeted, understood, engaged with, problems are solved and presented with sound solutions, and thanked.
- Assisting at the registers as needed when cashiers are not available
- Cleaning duties

REQUIREMENTS:
· Team Player
· Weekday and Saturday hours required
· Willing & able to work in all weather conditions (outside & in greenhouses), including hot, cold wet or dry.
· Willing & able to work on a variety of surfaces including gravel, concrete, mud, dirt, or other surfaces
· QuickBooks experience preferred but not required
· Able to lift 40 pounds or more and multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Able to stand, walk, and be on their feet for multiple hours at a time with minimal breaks
