What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT/OT Therapy Aide position at CHESTERTON PHYSICAL THERAPY, INC?
Purpose: Serves patients by assisting the therapists with modalities and exercise set up for patient care and by assisting with the front office duties.
This position is designed to assist care with our clients. The focus involves both behind the scenes support and in the forefront of client interaction. The primary focus of a PT/OT Therapy Aide at Chesterton Physical Therapy is to support the therapy staff in documenting notes, assisting in setting up exercises under the supervision of a therapist, facilitating smooth flow of clients through interaction and engaging conversation, and participating in community outreach events.
Assisting the Therapist:
- Set up treatment rooms for patient evaluations and treatment- Cleaning Linens, wiping down tables and keeping the clinic orderly. Set up exercise equipment and Modalities for patient use as directed by the therapists.
- Assist in patient exercise instruction as directed by the therapists and monitor exercise safety. Assist with patient setups and application of appropriate procedures and modalities as directed. Monitor vital signs as appropriate for patients and clients.
- Respond to emergencies and perform CPR if necessary.
- Assist with patient flow by effectively monitoring and supporting the timely care of each patient.
- Optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by adhering to treatment schedule.
- Comfort patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the gym and treatment areas clean.
- Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information; HIPAA compliance.
- Maintain operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing results.
Assisting Front office staff with the Front Office Duties:
- Orient new clients to the facility and check in procedures, and assist in orienting new patients to equipment.
- Answering Telephone calls
- Making Reminder Telephone calls to patients
- Assist with Scheduling Patient Appointments
- Filing, scanning
- Creating Charts for New Patients
- Enforcing Cancellation Policy with Patients
- Monitor linens usage and inventory.
- Monitor and maintain clinic, kitchen and bathroom cleanliness (dust, vacuum, etc...)
- Other Related and/ or Given Duties
- Maintain a Positive and Friendly Demeanor at ALL Times

Required:
- You must be able to reach, bend, walk, lift up to 30 lbs., use five finger manipulation over extended periods and stand and sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Rehab Science, or Pre-Physical Therapy (Required)
- Experience in Orthopedic, Sports Injury, or Exercise Science Setting: 1 year (Required)
- Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)
- Physical Therapy office experience: 1 year (Preferred)
- Office experience in scheduling and collection: 1 year (Preferred)
- Familiarity with HIPPA and other healthcare compliance regulations
- You must be CPR Certified or able to become certified immediately.
