The Chesterton Police Department is hiring for the full-time position of Communications Clerk. The Communications Clerk is a civilian employee assigned to daily shift duties within the radio dispatch center. The Communications Clerk is often the first line of contact with civilians in emergency situations and requests for services. The Communications Clerk is responsible for the initial receipt of calls for service, dispatching the calls to the shift supervisor or assigned personnel, and data entry of all information related to the initial handling of calls for service.
