Summary:
The Van Driver is responsible for providing safe and timely transportation for individuals with developmental disabilities using Chesterwye Center vans. This role requires a DOT certification and a clean background check. The driver will ensure that transportation is coordinated efficiently and safely on a daily basis.
Job Responsibilities:
Safely transport individuals to and from Chesterwye Center according to the set daily schedule.
Supervise individuals during transport, ensuring adherence to vehicle rules.
Assist individuals with loading and unloading from the vehicle, ensuring that all passengers, including those in wheelchairs, are securely fastened and that the vehicle is not overloaded.
Maintain accurate records, including driver trip logs and travel logs.
Ensure the vehicle and all associated equipment are kept in proper working order. Report any vehicle malfunctions or performance issues to the Supervisor immediately.
Manage fuel levels, ensuring the gas tank is at least half full at all times.
Maintain the cleanliness of the van, ensuring it is free of trash and litter.
Promptly report any accidents, damages, traffic violations, or DWI offenses (within 24 hours) to the Day Program Manager.
Comply with all traffic laws and regulations.
Participate in scheduled staff meetings and adhere to all Chesterwye Center policies and procedures.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Day Program Manager.

Job Requirements:
Valid Maryland Driver's License with a clean driving record
Must pass a Department of Transportation physical and background check.
High School Diploma or GED
Certifications required: Mandt, CPR/First Aid, etc. The certification of these three must be completed within the first 90 days of hire.
Compliance with all DDA & Chesterwye required training.
Flexible schedule during work hours
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs
