What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Chef position at Chestnut Hill Brewing Company?
We are looking for a hands on, creative and proficient in all aspects of food preparation, Head Chef. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of our food operations in our Pizza Kitchen and Taproom Kitchen. We are a small, family-owned company seeking someone who is passionate about food and can train, manage, and motivate a team.
Must be able to cook vegan and vegetarian food as our menu is very vegan and vegetarian-friendly. The ideal candidate has experience managing a kitchen and people, has experience in seasonal menu development, understands the business financials including labor costs and food costs, takes initiative, is accountable, solves problems, and enjoys always looking to make things better. The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator.
We are closed Mondays and Tuesdays so the schedule is Wednesday-Sunday. We are open Wednesday and Thursday, 4pm-9pm, Friday and Saturday 11:30am-10pm, and Sundays from 11:30am-8pm.
Responsibilities
- Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
- Modify menus or create new ones that meet quality standards and source ingredients for items
- Determine food requirements and food/labor costs
- Supervise kitchen team's activities
- Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
- Recruit, train, and manage kitchen team
- Deliver corrective action, performance reviews, and positive and constructive feedback as needed
- Rectify arising problems or complaints
- Give prepared plates the “final touch” and work the line as necessary
- Assist back of house kitchen operations wherever help is needed including dishwashing, expediting, cooking, prepping, opening, closing, etc.
- Perform administrative duties
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards including proper temperatures being held, food dated, labeled, rotated, and sealed properly
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all food prep and back of the house areas
- Complete the weekly schedule and monitor payroll and labor costs to be within budget
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Deliver outstanding guest service that exceeds guest expectations

Skills
- Proven working experience as a head chef

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
