Reports to: Senior Associate Director of Transfer Admissions
Department: SUS Admissions
Purpose:
The Transfer Admissions Counselor is responsible for guiding and supporting prospective transfer students throughout the admissions process. This position is responsible for building relationships with students, evaluating transfer credits, and providing personalized assistance to ensure a smooth transition to the institution.
Responsibilities:
- The Transfer Admissions Counselor will serve as the primary recruiter within an assigned territory for transfer students and assist with first-year recruitment.
- Recruit prospective transfer students by visiting community colleges, college fairs, and other off-site recruitment events.
- Assist with all recruitment events in-person and virtually.
- Manage application flow and evaluate applications to make admission decisions or recommendations.
- Report on inquiries, applications, follow-up contacts, campus visits, etc. that allow for the analysis of enrollment strategies.
- Conduct weekly call campaigns and meet high-volume weekly call goals.
- Provide one-on-one admissions and financial aid counseling, assisting students in understanding their financial aid options, scholarships, and the FAFSA process and convert acceptances into enrollments.
- Assist the financial aid office by providing support during peak times.
- Develop and foster strong relationships with 2-year colleges, community college partners, independent educational consultants, and organizations to enhance student recruitment.
- Extensive travel and frequent evening and weekend availability are required. Peak seasons for this position is Fall and Spring.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
- Prior customer service experience.
- Ability to engage positively and professionally with diverse groups, fostering strong relationships with prospective students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage deadlines, and stay organized while balancing travel and recruitment duties.
- Comfortable presenting to large audiences both in-person and virtually.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong critical thinking, creativity, and strategic decision-making skills to address challenges effectively.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and car insurance.
