The Diesel Technician specializes in the repair and maintenance of diesel-powered vehicles, such as trucks, buses, and heavy equipment that come through the service drive at our dealership.
Responsibilities
Technical Expertise:
- Diagnose and repair complex diesel engine problems, including fuel systems, emissions systems, and electrical components.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and brake inspections.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest diesel engine technology and repair techniques.
Customer Service:
- Communicate with customers about the status of their vehicle repairs.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by providing high-quality service.
Administrative Tasks:
- Complete necessary paperwork, including repair orders and work estimates.
- Manage inventory of parts and supplies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates a high “HQ” (Hospitality Quotient) consisting of kindness & optimism, intellectual curiosity, work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certifications: Technical certification or diploma in diesel mechanics.
- Experience: 2 years experience as an automotive diesel technician.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and components.
- Ability to diagnose and repair complex diesel engine problems.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Ability to work in a noisy and sometimes dirty environment.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Good eyesight and hearing.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
