Purpose/Introduction
We are currently seeking qualified individuals to join our team as a Process Operator for our Cedar Bayou plant Process and Materials Handling units located in Baytown, Texas. This is an employee-oriented and safety conscious facility where respect, responsibility and recognition are a part of everyone’s responsibilities. Responsibilities
The successful candidate should be able to promote a safe environment through our Tenets of Operations, ensuring environmental compliance, operating reliably, and producing the highest quality product. Process Operators work with maintenance and all other departments to ensure safety, environmental, production and cost goals are met. Employees in this position receive work direction from the Shift Supervisor and work with other Operators in performing routine plant operating duties, including, but not limited to the following tasks:
Position requires ability to climb, bend, lift, and perform a wide range of physical activities; ability to work at heights; entry into confined spaces; work in adverse weather conditions; ability to listen and follow instructions. Requires working 12-hour rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends, and overtime. Operating needs of the unit will dictate work schedule. Must be able to complete the requirements of the formal Cedar Bayou Operator's training program and pass required testing. Must follow all plant safety guidelines and policies, which includes the wearing of fire-retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE). Standby coverage will be assigned during off days; must be able to report to work in response to call-out within 90 minutes of receiving the request.
Opportunity is available to join and participate on the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
Additional requirements include passing electronic pre-employment tests prior to being considered for the position. Successful candidates will be required to complete a physical examination, which includes a drug and alcohol screen, fitness for duty exam, and background check. Competitive wages increase through a progression program.

- Safely operate pumps, compressors, fired heaters, reactors, extruders, distillation columns, and other plant equipment within safe operating ranges
- Make changes to the operating process necessary to maintain product quality
- Monitor the performance of plant equipment and process conditions, read flow meters and temperature and pressure gauges, and take routine readings on process variables
- Operate control room instrumentation systems
- Inside DCS board operations is expected if assigned to a process unit
- Draw samples of products from the process for laboratory testing
- Perform lab testing on some of the process streams
- Promptly respond to process alarms / constraints
- Start-up/shut-down process equipment
- Prepare equipment for maintenance
- Support other operational activities associated with site turnarounds and projects
- Loads and unloads chemical shipments/products from trucks or railcars
- Trains and shares knowledge with other operators

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associate degree in Process Technology; OR minimum of 4 years of applicable experience in the Petrochemical or Refinery industry; OR comparable military experience
- Must possess basic computer skills
- Ability to read and communicate verbally, written, and electronically in English
- Work 12 hour rotating shift work schedule (including nights, weekends, and holidays)
- Work overtime based on operating needs and assigned standby coverage on some off days
