What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Health and Safety Specialist position at Chewy Fulfillment Centers?

To assist with delivering upon our mission, Chewy is seeking a full-time EHS Specialist to serve as a designated shift representative for our Houston, Texas Fulfillment Center (FC), coordinating and implementing all areas of the Chewy EHS Program as encouraged by leadership. The EHS Specialist promotes a positive environment while following Chewy standards and maintaining a safe work environment.
What you'll do but not limited to :
- Demonstrate passion for EHS.
- Serve as the designated EHS shift representative, coordinating and implementing all areas of the Chewy EHS Program as coached by the Site EHSM.
- Influence behavior and encourage dedication on the part of all Team Members in following Chewy EHS standards and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Training and mentoring Team Members on observed at-risk behaviors.
- Support leadership efforts to ensure compliance with corporate EHS Program expectations and applicable federal and state laws.
- Identify and communicate leadership of compliance issues, EHS risks, and improvement opportunities by performing daily, weekly, and monthly audits.
- Conduct risk assessments related to jobs performed and new equipment introductions.
- Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures to leadership, including ergonomic considerations.
- Facilitate the incident investigation process.
- Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics applying corporate-based reporting systems to provide onsite leadership with data to mitigate injuries and incidents.
- Maintain required paperwork to follow EHS standards.
- Perform required standard of work observations and audits.
- Train and assist Team Members in completing their EHS responsibilities.
- Perform specific EHS training as required by the EHS Manager.
- Demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, analysis, and customer-centric skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and equipment for potential EHS concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses.
