Summary:
We are seeking a highly analytical, passionate, self-motivated individual to play a key role on our Supply Chain team as a Buyer. This position will be responsible for supporting the Supply Chain department in all areas of the department as outlined below and beyond as needed. Primary focus includes working with suppliers, forecasting, demand planning, and buying and managing a select number of specialty dry food brands and items.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Buying and maintaining inventory on a group of specialty foods items with specific metrics for inventory optimization including service level, turns, excess inventory and spoilage goals.
- Run, format, and distribute weekly reports in Microsoft Excel and maintain Microsoft SharePoint site to support the Supply Chain department internally and externally.
- Negotiate and monitor supplier performance and take proactive steps to ensure the highest levels of performance from all suppliers are met in all areas to align with our supply needs.
- Maintain Target ERP and Herlitz Himpact purchasing system to ensure we have accurate forecasts, needed demand and adjusted lead times as needed.
- Develop an effective and accurate system for monitoring purchase orders.
- Deliver a weekly purchase order report to supervisors that indicates the invoice number for all closed orders.
- Work with the warehouse to resolve any receiving or damage issues on receipts.
- Utilize report systems to analyze results and identify opportunities for increased sales and profit.
- Ensure all deliveries satisfy the assigned orders and report any back ordered or missing products.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Self-starter who wants to keep learning/growing and capable of achieving specific target goals.
- Associate’s degree in business or related field is preferred but will consider equivalent professional experience of 3-5 years and/or supply chain certifications.
- Background of administrative office experience to support and being part of a team.
- Recent and/or relative experience within a purchasing related department.
- Clear and concise in verbal and written communication, able to foster smooth flow of timely and relevant information within team, across internal departments including Operations and Sales.
- Excellent analytical skills that create actionable insights that drive business results.
- Experience in demand exception purchasing systems managing forecasting and demand a plus.
- Advanced MS Office, especially Excel intermediate or above skills to help format, plan and analyze inventory data for collaboration across the Supply Chain department.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
