Cheyenne Mountain Resort opened in 1985 and sits on 25 acres of land. The 4-Star Full Service property is nestled in the lush greens of Southern Colorado Springs and oversees Impressive mountain views, along with exciting activities like golf, swimming, and tennis. These allow for the unique experience that you can only get at this resort.
Salary Range: $100,000-$115,000 commensurate with experience
Position Overview: As Director of Engineering you will lead our ambitious engineering team and oversee the completion of various projects within our hotel while providing exceptional guest service and serving on the Leadership Committee. You will manage operations, maintenance and repair of our property, machinery and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
The Director of Engineering is responsible for ensuring the efficient and economic operation of the Engineering Department in support of all other operating departments, supplying services as required to the entire operation, and maintaining equipment, building, and grounds in optimum condition.
Additionally, the Director of Engineering will be responsible for the efficient running of the department in line with Hyatt International's Corporate Strategies and brand standards, whilst meeting employee, guest and owner expectations. This includes the inside as well as the outside of the buildings.
This person must be knowledgeable in HVAC, Refrigeration, and Electrical Engineering.
Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Engineering department, including supervising engineering staff and contractors.
- Maintain the hotel's physical assets, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, and building structures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations, including fire safety and OSHA standards.
- Responsible for financial reporting and owner relations.
- Develop and manage the hotel's preventative maintenance programs to ensure minimal downtime and maximum operational efficiency.
- Manage the department budget, controlling operational costs, and ensuring efficient energy usage across the property.
- Support the Safety and Security teams as well as the Safety Committee.
- Conduct training classes regarding safety, security, department procedures and service guidelines for all employees at the property.
- Develop financial forecasts and actively participate in monthly profit/loss discussions.
- Responsible for drafting and executing the 5-year capital plan and executing on the current property improvement plan.
- Ensure all maintenance and repairs are completed on a timely, cost-effective basis and according to specifications.
- Ensure that room maintenance requests are handled in a prompt and courteous manner. Follow up with guests if necessary to ensure satisfaction.
- Actively participate in energy conservation programs.
- Administer all vendor contracts controlled by the Engineering Department.
- Lead and coordinate efforts for repair, maintenance, and installation projects, both large and small, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Respond promptly to guest and operational issues and provide quick and effective engineering solutions to minimize disruption.
- Assist with training and developing the engineering team, ensuring high standards of performance and safety.
- Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure the smooth functioning of all facilities and resolve any engineering-related challenges.
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and materials are stored safely and in good working order.
- You will be responsible for accurate timekeeping, purchasing, processing and invoices.
Qualifications
- 5 years of Engineering Supervisory/Management experience in a similar resort setting required.
- Must have any government required licenses, certificates or permits.
- High School Diploma or equivalent – Bachelor’s Degree or Technical School experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Strong financial knowledge and computer skills required.
- Proficient in payroll, scheduling, labor management, ordering and inventory.
- Ability to repair and maintain various pieces of building and grounds equipment – ability to train others in the same repairing.
- Ability to operate mechanical equipment and various tools.
- Valid driver’s license from appropriate state and MVR in good standing.
- Have excellent English communication skills and able to read, write and speak fluently.
- Proficient in Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Knowledge in preventive maintenance programs.
- Technical knowledge of air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration systems, fire main systems, sprinklers, water/waste treatment preferred.
- Strong leadership and team player.
