What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Processing Tech position at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center?
Day in the life of a Sterile Processing Tech:
Under general supervision, the Sterile Processing Instrument Tech decontaminates, cleans, processes, sterilizes, stores, and distributes reusable medical devices and supplies used in patient care.

Here is what you will be doing:
- Decontaminates and cleans reusable equipment and/or supplies and associated storage units in accordance with department, manufacturer, and OSHA standards.
- Assembles, stores, and distributes reusable medical equipment and/or supplies for customers.
- Maintains records and documentation for all aspects of instrument processing.
- Performs and documents quality control aspects of sterile processing.
- Adheres to proper infection control and safety practices. Ensures proper handling of instruments and equipment to prevent damage or loss.
- Monitors for equipment and/or supplies in need of repair or replacement and notifies appropriate department personnel.
- Sorts, assembles, and packs surgical instruments, trays, and supplies following established protocol, tray sheets or manufacturer’s instructions.

- Basic knowledge of inventory control concepts
Here is what you will need:
- High school diploma (or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited program) or higher degree
Nice to have:
- Certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing or other Sterile Processing credible credentialing programs
- Prior Sterile Processing or Operating Room related experience
