What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospitalist RN position at Cheyenne Regional?
Day in the Life of a Hospitalist RN:
The Hospitalist RN facilitates Physician/Patient interactions and overall care of hospitalized patients from pre-admission to post-discharge. Specific tasks include but are not limited to coordinating daily admissions, assigning new patients to rounding physicians, medication reconciliation, medication prior authorization, various administrative tasks, scheduling follow up appointments (as needed), assisting Hospitalist Medical Director(s) as needed/requested.

Here is what you will be doing:
- Completes daily physician rounding assignments and admission order.
- Assigns new admissions to rounding physicians throughout the day.
- Accepts phone calls regarding admission/consultations from ER, Transfer Center, and Specialists.
- Performs medication reconciliations for all day/night admissions.
- Completes medication reconciliation on all patients within 24 hours of admission.
- Accepts and addresses calls from physicians, ER, transfer center, nursing, ancillary departments, pharmacies, outside facilities, family members, discharged patients, etc.
- Obtains and distributes records upon request and in compliance with HIPAA.
- Monitors fax machine and routes paperwork appropriately.
- Tracks patients’ PCPs/specialists and pharmacy for after visit follow up purposes.
- Completes prior authorizations for medications.
- Ensures death certificates are routed to the correct Physician.
- Confirms vaccine status as needed.
Desired skills:
- Ability to work efficiently and independently
- Working knowledge of electronic health records
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills
- Strong knowledge of medications/doses
Here is what you will need:
- Wyoming Registered Nurse License or enhanced Nurse Licensure (eNLC)
- Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within 14 calendar days of start date
- 6 Months: Lean Daily Management training within six (6) months of start date
